Blair Atholl is an ideal centre for touring the Scottish Highlands and is the southern gateway to the Cairngortms National Park. To the north lie the Cairngorm Mountains, Loch Ness and Inverness (90 mins), while to the west are Loch Tummel, the famous Queens View, Loch Rannoch, Schiehallion, and bleak Rannoch Moor. On the southern side are Dunkeld, Crieff and Perth (all within 45 mins). To the east is Glenshee and Braemar, and Balmoral is just over 50 miles away. Pitlochry lies 7 miles to the south, famous for its Festival Theatre. There are also two whisky distilleries, one of which is the smallest in Scotland, and enough shops to keep the ladies happy; and in Blair Atholl itself there are a number of attractions, with Blair Castle, one of Scotland's best known castles, chief among them.
